The Heroin Diaries Vol. 3

After finishing the last portion of the book, I was really sad. I really enjoyed this book, and hearing Nikki Sixx's story from his point of view. He basically described every horrid thing in his life that happened to him, in detail. It would take a lot for anybody to share those things. The hardest part for me to read was when he went into detail about his overdose. It's sad reading about the pain he had to go through to finally realize that he needed to stop his battle and addiction with drugs. His out of body experience I think is what finally made him realize that he needed to step back, and look at the bigger picture of life, and why he was actually living. After his overdose, though, it was crazy to me on how he took one last shoot up. He says, "I woke up the next morning, with a needle still in my arm and blood on my hand" (390). He finally got help after that, but it's hard to actually believe and see he went back to the thing that killed him in the...

The Heroin Diaries Vol. 2

The Heroin Diaries has kept me intrigued from the very start of the book. Nikki Sixx is truly one of the coolest human beings ever. In the book, he talks about so many points and different aspects to life. He is telling his story, but also is using the power of his story to inform others, and even possibly help someone else going through the same struggles he did. He even goes out of his way to say, "If I could ever get myself straight I know I could help others. But you can't help anybody unless you help yourself..." (Pg. 244). It's crazy the way Nikki handles his addiction and it's probably not the best way either, but somehow he ends up recovering.        Something I find interesting is that Nikki loved and longed to go back to Van Nuys while he was on the Girls, Girls, Girls tour. Even though he talks about how he loves to tour and it helps him stay off drugs, it's interesting on how he gets really excited when he has a consecutive amo...

The Heroin Diaries Vol. 1

Although I knew rockstars did herd drugs, I never knew that Nikki Sixx had struggled with such a hard addiction until diving into this book. I also didn't think he was in such a psychotic state. I can tell when he says, "When everybody turns into tiny dolls and they have needles in their mouths and they hate you and you don't care because you have the knife!" I have caught myself reading ahead, and binge reading The Heroin Diaries. I think it's crazy that Nikki puts his whole life story on the line, and discusses every little detail - even the brutal ones. Just by reading the first section of the book, it's clear to see that he has grown tremendously from the person that he was.        I also think just from reading the first section that Nikki is someone to be idolized. Not for who he was back then, but for who he is now. He tells his story with such magnitude and detail not to help himself, but to help others. Maybe if other people hear ...

Death Note Vol. 3

After finally finishing Death Note, I've been left on a cliffhanger. I wasn't expecting the book to end on a note where Light is saying "so let's go, Ryuk!" to help him find the hidden cameras in his household. I'm very temped to go out and buy the next book, just to tame my curiosity.        The part that shocked me most out of this particular section of the book was that Light's father actually let L and the other investigators put the cameras in his house. He is even shown saying, "I insist you go all the way. I want bugs and cameras in the bathrooms, hallways, every inch of that house so nothing is missed!" (370). It was surprising to me that Light's father had enough pride to admit that maybe something was happening within his household, and especially with his son. It's smart that they use the tactic of bugging the whole house instead of them interrogating Light because that would only give him more insight on the case. Alth...

Death Note Vol. 2

In the midst of this book, I've found that I really enjoy spending my time reading this book. I find myself always thinking about what's going to happen next, and all of the possibilities of what could happen. This magna its filled with action, and that's a quality of this book that keeps me very intrigued.        So far, it's no question that Light is the most intelligent character throughout the story. He thinks all of his actions through before preforming them, and as a reader we can see that after his actions play out in his favor, that the author gives us a backstory on his thinking, and how he preforms and acts out all of his tasks. One thing that I think he played out very well was the killing of Raye Penber, and how he managed to get all of the other agents names off of him. Kira "Light" says, "tell him you want to know the names and the faces of all the agents in Japan on this mission, and to send a file containing these to your c...
