Vision In Silver Vol. 4

As we've finished Vision In Silver, I find myself feeling relieved. I feel like on all my posts that have to do with this book, I've been saying over and over that this boo has confused me. This book was a more challenging read for me, mostly due to the fact that I don't read these kind of books and genres, and because there were so many plots going on throughout the entire book. The ending wasn't as bad for me to read as the rest of the book, although I feel like there really wasn't a real ending to the novel. This probably relates to what happened when we read Death Note, because there are more books in the series to be read. I just keep on wondering what is going to happen next. Even though the book was so confusing, I might have to go pick up the next book to find out the rest of the story. The author gave a few clues as to what might happen next, but nothing that would give a clear and precise picture. I thought that she left Simon and Meg's relation...

Vision In Silver Vol. 3

I think the plot of the book is starting to escalate, and pick up the pace. I think the attack on the courtyard was probably the biggest incident thus far. That probably caught my eye the most, and kept me wondering how the terra indigene will react to the humans attacking. The other plot I also found interesting within this section is when Simon and the HFL Movement fight. I felt sad when not everybody made it out safe, and two lives were lost. I thought it wads heroic when Simon went back into the fight, and didn't just think about himself and escaping and keeping his own life. He risked himself for the others because he cares. I think that Simon is a compassionate and caring person. He sympathizes for others instead of himself. "Don't cry, Meg, he pleaded. It hurt in a different way to hear her crying." (406). In all, I can't wait to see what happens next in the final chapters of the book, and how everything plays out in the end. Hopefully Simon defeats all the...

Vision In Silver Vol. 2

Although this book is intriguing, this book is still really confusing for me because of all of the different plots. So far, there's the HFL movement plan that is trying to take down the the terra Indigene. They're trying to track down the blood of the blood prophets, and they're also trying to hunt the jewel thieves that were located In boobear. There's a lot of different themes and plots going on in this book, and sometimes it can be hard to decipher them from one another. I think the best plot that is going on at the moment is trying to locate the jewel thieves. I think it's interesting the way Vlad describes his theories on the Jewels. "You can't buy what isn't there. Maybe the food isn't there because it's already been purchased. Maybe the jewels were the payment. But why hoard food and let people think they and their young will go hungry?" (260). They have a bunch of different theories that they're coming up with that could ...

Vision In Silver Vol. 1

It's amazing how this is already the last book for this class. Moving on from the Heroin Diaries onto Vision In Silver was a dramatic change due to the fact that they're vastly different than one another. I can admit that I wasn't very stoked for this book because it doesn't fit the genre I usually read, because it takes me longer to get into. Starting this book was incredibly hard due to the fact that the first couple of chapters were hard to interpret, and I couldn't really catch a glimpse of what was happening besides Meg cutting herself to see visions.        I thought it was insane when it was mentioned that meg can only cut a thousand times before she dies. What makes it even worse is that she's addicted to it. "Addiction was its own reason. That would explain why Meg had chosen a time when Simon Wolfgard and Henry Beargard were away from the Courtyard" (11). She has to feed her addiction when other people aren't watching her who don...

The Heroin Diaries Vol. 3

After finishing the last portion of the book, I was really sad. I really enjoyed this book, and hearing Nikki Sixx's story from his point of view. He basically described every horrid thing in his life that happened to him, in detail. It would take a lot for anybody to share those things. The hardest part for me to read was when he went into detail about his overdose. It's sad reading about the pain he had to go through to finally realize that he needed to stop his battle and addiction with drugs. His out of body experience I think is what finally made him realize that he needed to step back, and look at the bigger picture of life, and why he was actually living. After his overdose, though, it was crazy to me on how he took one last shoot up. He says, "I woke up the next morning, with a needle still in my arm and blood on my hand" (390). He finally got help after that, but it's hard to actually believe and see he went back to the thing that killed him in the...

The Heroin Diaries Vol. 2

The Heroin Diaries has kept me intrigued from the very start of the book. Nikki Sixx is truly one of the coolest human beings ever. In the book, he talks about so many points and different aspects to life. He is telling his story, but also is using the power of his story to inform others, and even possibly help someone else going through the same struggles he did. He even goes out of his way to say, "If I could ever get myself straight I know I could help others. But you can't help anybody unless you help yourself..." (Pg. 244). It's crazy the way Nikki handles his addiction and it's probably not the best way either, but somehow he ends up recovering.        Something I find interesting is that Nikki loved and longed to go back to Van Nuys while he was on the Girls, Girls, Girls tour. Even though he talks about how he loves to tour and it helps him stay off drugs, it's interesting on how he gets really excited when he has a consecutive amo...

The Heroin Diaries Vol. 1

Although I knew rockstars did herd drugs, I never knew that Nikki Sixx had struggled with such a hard addiction until diving into this book. I also didn't think he was in such a psychotic state. I can tell when he says, "When everybody turns into tiny dolls and they have needles in their mouths and they hate you and you don't care because you have the knife!" I have caught myself reading ahead, and binge reading The Heroin Diaries. I think it's crazy that Nikki puts his whole life story on the line, and discusses every little detail - even the brutal ones. Just by reading the first section of the book, it's clear to see that he has grown tremendously from the person that he was.        I also think just from reading the first section that Nikki is someone to be idolized. Not for who he was back then, but for who he is now. He tells his story with such magnitude and detail not to help himself, but to help others. Maybe if other people hear ...
